June 12, 2008 Thank you Hope families for another wonderful school year. One of the major highlights includes our recognition as a California Distinguished School for the first time in our 20 year history. Hope Families also raised $352 for Hospice of North County to send one family to Camp Hope (An outdoor healing experience for families suffering the loss of a loved one). Our campus beautification silent auction raised over $1000 which was used to purchase new picnic tables. We are proud to be Hope Hawks! Over the summer, I hope you have fun and I hope you will continue to encourage and promote academic achievement by setting a reading schedule for your student(s). You might also consider providing learning time to reinforce math concepts appropriate for your student's grade level next year as well as fun writing activities. If you have access to the internet, there are many great resources for your and your student such as www.mathfactcafe.com for math skills, flashcards, online tests, and activities about time and money. To build writing skills, you may want to visit www.readwritethink.org for a variety of student resources. Parent Teacher Association Fundraising We also plan on expanding our recycling effort to include all community members. We currently recycle aluminum and plastic bottles on campus with the help of our special education program. This is not only good for the environment, it has also paid for field trips for our special education students. Next year, Friends of Hope School will sponsor a large scale effort to collect materials for recycling from our community with a goal of raising $1000 a month. Plan now to help by saving your aluminum cans, plastic and glass bottles. It's good for the environment and it's good for our school. Staffing We anticipate an additional 1st grade classroom, a new teacher in 2nd grade, and a new teacher in 4th grade. Final staffing will be posted in August. Campus upgrades Spirit Wear Office Hours Here's a special note written by 4th grade student Samantha Gee. School’s Out!
